![]() Scottsdale Mayor
Feb. 24, 2025 5:00 p.m.
Lisa is a Valley native and a lifelong Scottsdale resident. She attended Scottsdale public schools and graduated from Arizona State University (ASU). Lisa got her JD (Juris Doctor) at St. John’s School of Law in New York. After earning her JD, Lisa returned home to begin her career in commercial litigation. For over two decades, Lisa represented homeowners plagued by construction defects resulting from shoddy construction, recovering millions of dollars for her clients. However, Lisa’s most significant accomplishment is raising her beautiful daughter, Savannah, in Scottsdale. Savannah recently moved to Tucson to become a Wildcat at the University of Arizona (UofA)! Lisa has been active in our community her entire life. She previously served on the Scottsdale City Council from 2008 to 2012, where she led the charge pushing for meaningful structural changes to the budget process, including a City Charter amendment, which moved the City Treasurer to the position of Charter Officer, reporting directly to the Council and the citizens. Her strong convictions as a fiscal conservative were critical to Scottsdale’s successful recovery following the great recession. These essential principles will remain a top priority for Lisa during her campaign to become the Mayor of Scottsdale. In addition to her service as an elected member of the Scottsdale City Council, Lisa served on numerous boards and committees, including the Experience Scottsdale Board of Directors, the City’s Audit Committee, the Water Subcommittee, and the Scottsdale Westworld Subcommittee. Lisa is passionate about promoting the city’s hospitality industry. She is committed to maintaining and growing Scottsdale as a premiere destination for tourists throughout the county and the world. Throughout her life, Lisa has dedicated countless hours to serving the community of Scottsdale, children, and older individuals. She served as a member of the O’Connor House Avon Program, a member of the National Advisory Council of TGen’s Center for Rare Childhood Disease Research, a Chapter Vice President of the National Charity League, and a member of the Arabian Horse Association. Lisa has also served on the Scottsdale City Water Subcommittee, Audit Committee, and Westworld Subcommittee. Lisa is a proud member of the Scottsdale Charros Foundation Board, where she co-chairs the Community Outreach Committee and serves on the donations committee, which furthers the organization’s goals by raising money and awareness for underprivileged Scottsdale youth and older adults. As mayor of Scottsdale, Lisa will leverage her experience as an attorney, councilwoman, and volunteer to protect Scottsdale’s future, bring transparency to city government, and improve the lives of Scottsdale residents. |

US National Debt and New Congress
Mar. 17, 2025 12:45 p.m.
David Schweikert is serving his seventh term in the United States Congress. He holds a seat on the Ways and Means Committee and is the current Chairman of the Oversight Subcommittee. He is also the Vice Chairman of the bicameral Joint Economic Committee, Chairman of the Valley Fever Task force, is the Republican Co-Chair of the Blockchain Caucus, Co-Chair of the Tunisia Caucus, and Co-Chair of the Telehealth Caucus. Among his legislative accomplishments, David was instrumental in authoring and passing H.R. 1. the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, which reformed an outdated tax code resulting in incredible economic growth, millions of jobs being created, 50-year record low unemployment, and increased revenues. David also played a key role in advancing the United States, Mexico, Canada Agreement (USMCA) as a former member of the Ways and Means Trade Subcommittee and USMCA Whip Team, working across the aisle to garner support. This 21st Century trade deal supports over 228,000 jobs, improves Arizona’s cross-border trade relationships, and updates our intellectual property laws. During this 118th Congress, the Congressman was a main contributor to the Tax Relief for American Families & Workers Act, which passed out of the House with strong bipartisan support. The agreement secures pro-growth tax policies, including immediate research and development (R&D) expensing. Additionally, it incorporates interest deductibility, supporting small- and medium-sized businesses in meeting payroll and fostering growth. Overall, this legislation solidifies over $600 billion in proven pro-growth tax policies, benefiting more than 21 million jobs. During the 115th and 116th Congress, David helped advance several healthcare proposals designed to give patients the choice, affordability, and quality they deserve. His work as Co-Chair of the Telehealth Caucus proved pivotal in passing flexibilities during the COVID-19 pandemic. He is also an advocate of H.R. 19, the Lower Costs, More Cures Act, legislation compromised of bipartisan solutions designed to lower out of pocket spending, encourage innovation, improve transparency, and foster competition. David continues to advocate for permanently removing barriers to telehealth, developing a Federal Invisible Risk Sharing Program, and providing patients with the most affordable care. David has always been a leader in the financial services space, previously serving on the House Financial Services Committee. During the 117th Congress, David re-introduced The Fair Investment Opportunities for Professional Experts Act, legislation he wrote to expand the definition of an “accredited investor” allowing for a larger number of individual investors to enter the marketplace and be considered for growth opportunities. In August 2020, the Securities and Exchange Commission voted to modernize the definition of an accredited investor, incorporating many of the changes from David’s legislation. A national leader on tribal policy, David draws on a unique background working with Arizona’s tribal communities on important priorities. In fact, in May 2024, Congressman Schweikert welcomed the Ways & Means Committee to his very own Congressional District, where the committee hosted the first ever Ways & Means field Hearing on tribal lands. As a strong advocate for efficiencies in the 21st Century economy, David collaborates with entrepreneurs and innovators in Arizona and around the world on ways to increase trade and drive economic growth. David has long championed technological innovations as the solution to the problems of over-burdensome government regulations. In addition to chairing the Oversight Subcommittee, David holds a seat on the Tax and Social Security Subcommittees on the House Ways and Means Committee, where he is able to use his expertise in tax and retirement policy to lend his voice towards pressing issues such as meaningful tax reform and protecting and preserving Social Security and Medicare for future generations. |
