McCall Scholarship

The Bob and Louise McCall Visual Arts Scholarship

One of the scholarship categories has been in the Visual Arts.  A generous donation by a local foundation provided the impetus to dramatically increase and memorialize the visual arts scholarship into The Bob and Louise McCall Visual Arts Scholarship Prize.   An anonymous matching grant propelled the prize forward into an endowment. 

The Prize became the fund-raising focus for the Rotary Club of Scottsdale’s 2011-2012 program years. 

The Scottsdale Rotary Club Foundation has chosen to honor the memory of one of its long-time members Bob McCall and his wife Louise McCall by creating and fully funding a permanent, endowed visual arts scholarship in their names.  Bob and Louise McCall, both nationally known artists, have been long-term supporters of the Rotary Club of Scottsdale and its community services. 

This scholarship, part of the ongoing Scottsdale Rotary Club Foundation scholarship program, will annually provide higher-education financial support to at least one Scottsdale-area visual arts student per year.  100% of donations goes to scholarships, none goes to administrative expense. 

In order to fund a significant and sustainable scholarship of $10,000 per year, the Rotary Club of Scottsdale has committed to raising a total endowment of $200,000.  The immediate goal of raising $100,000 by Christmas 2011 has already received gifts and pledges of over $60,000 from Club members, local foundations and others.  A similar amount has been pledged for 2012. 

We are counting on the support of every member of the Rotary Club of Scottsdale, as well as outside individuals and institutions associated with Bob and Louise, to reach this goal. 

Ask yourself what “Service before Self” means to you.  Is helping our community's youth for many, many years to come, while honoring a beloved member of our club, a part of what service means to you?  If so, please support this major effort by our Club in a significant way this year and next.
