PUBLIC RELATIONS CHAIRMAN: Bonnie
Halley
With a membership surpassing 170
service-minded business professionals and community leaders, our
club works tirelessly to build on its foundation
of time-tested programs and projects designed to enhance our
community and better the lives of those in
need.
As District 5510's largest Rotary
Club...members, guests and visiting Rotarians enjoy a wealth of
top- flight speakers that a club of our size attracts.
The speakers list is always a Who's Who of
politics, education, sports, business, the military,
medicine, publishing, the arts and entertainment and
Rotary information.
As well as having fantastic speakers,
visitors often comment on the excellent food and the warmth
and friendliness they experience from our many members
and club leaders.
There are three core areas through
which service efforts are directed:
1) Youth Programs: Educational
Scholarships, an Interact Club, a book donation literacy
program, Rotary Youth Leadership Award Camp sponsorship,
an Annual Golf Tournament, the Youth Salute competition and
Rotary Youth Exchange.
2) International Outreach: Gift of
Life, Polioplus, Rotoplast and World Community
Service.
3) Scottsdale Rotary Park: A
beautiful eight acre park with a playground, ramadas, a massive
greenbelt, well-lit walking paths and restroom facilities. Our
newest addition to the park is Unity Plaza, which consists of a
memorial flagpole and plaza in the shape of the Rotary wheel. Unity
Plaza is the first Centennial project completed in the Rotary world
and is a tribute to veterans, Rotarians and those who perished on
September 11th.
The Rotary Club of Scottsdale is
always pleased to welcome prospective members and visiting
Rotarians and looks forward to sharing our friendly
environment and many opportunities for
service. |
