In July of 2000, The Rotary Club of Scottsdale began a new tradition. Instead of providing guest speakers with the standard pen and pencil set or paperweight, Scottsdale Rotary donates an award winning book to a local school library. Each speaker also autographs the book.

Scottsdale Rotary has donated approximately 200 books to the Supai Middle School Library. It was learned in 2002, that The Thomas J. Pappas School receives no government funding. It is a school for homeless children. The Pappas School Library is now the recipient of these award winning books.
